Alle masseutsendelser må være formatert i henhold til RFC 2822 SMTP-standarder, eventuelt w3.org-standarder hvis du bruker HTML.
Meldinger bør identifiseres som masseutsendelser ved å bruke feltet «Precedence: bulk».
Forsøk på å skjule den faktiske avsenderen av meldinger eller den faktiske destinasjonssiden for nettkoblinger i meldinger kan resultere i at meldingene ikke blir levert.
Emnet for hver melding skal være relevant for innholdet i teksten, og må ikke være villedende
RFC 2822 SMTP
Dette er en standard som forteller hvordan en epost teknisk skal bygges opp for å passe med mottakerens epostserver. RFC 2822 SMTP standarden er den nyeste standarden, og stiller strengere krav til hvilke felter en epostmelding må inneholde for å være ansett som en “gyldig melding”. Mens “fra” og “emne” feltet var valgfrie felt i tidligere standarder, er disse ikke lenger valgfrie. De må alltid være inkluderte i meldingen med gyldige verdier for at Gmail og andre epostservere skal akseptere å motta meldingen. Benytter du MailOnNet eller tilsvarende profesjonelle epostmarkedsførings løsninger trenger du ikke å tenke på dette, da alle meldingene formateres i henhold til RFC 2822 SMTP standarden. Har du egenutviklede skript som sender ut dine meldinger, kan denne linken hjelpe deg hvis meldingene dine blir avvist av Gmail eller andre fordi de ikke oppfyller RFC 2822 SMTP standarden.
